GEMS Wellington Academy – Silicon Oasis (WSO) is celebrating its strongest ever A-level and BTEC results, with the Class of 2025 setting new academic benchmarks and outperforming national averages in England across the board. This year’s achievements are a testament to the school’s commitment to academic excellence, personalised learning, and preparing students for success beyond the classroom.
A-level Excellence at Historic Highs
In a year that saw record numbers of A-level entries across GEMS Education, WSO delivered exceptional results:
- 18% of entries achieved the top A* grade – a remarkable 15 percentage point increase on last year and almost double the England national average.
- 39% achieved A*-A – an 18 percentage point improvement year-on-year and 10 percentage points above the national average.
- 63% achieved A*-B – up 15 percentage points compared to 2024 and 8 percentage points higher than the national average.
These results highlight the dedication of WSO’s students, the expertise of its teaching staff, and the school’s focus on high expectations for all learners.
Sarah O’Regan, Principal/CEO of WSO, expressed her pride in the school’s success:
“We are incredibly proud of our results this year. The dedication and effort shown by the largest A-level cohort in our history – and by their teachers – has led to a set of achievements that deserves real celebration. Alongside our equally impressive BTEC outcomes, the Class of 2025 has truly set a new benchmark.”
BTEC Success Continues to Grow
WSO’s BTEC programme has also gone from strength to strength, reflecting the growing appeal of vocational qualifications that combine academic rigour with real-world application. Across GEMS Education, nearly a third (32%) of BTEC Level 3 entries achieved the highest possible grade of Distinction Star, and almost two-thirds (62%) received either a Distinction Star or Distinction.
At WSO, BTEC students have matched this excellence, achieving top results that demonstrate both their academic capabilities and their readiness for professional pathways.
Steven Walby, Head of BTEC at WSO, commented:
“Our BTEC Level 3 students have achieved exceptional results this year, with most earning top grades. These outcomes reflect their hard work, commitment, and the practical skills developed throughout the programme. We are incredibly proud of their academic and professional growth and look forward to seeing the impact they will make in the next stage of their journeys.”
A Culture of Aspiration and Achievement
The Class of 2025’s achievements are the result of a school culture that inspires ambition, celebrates diversity, and provides personalised pathways to suit every learner. Whether students are aiming for admission to top global universities, pursuing vocational qualifications, or exploring alternative routes to success, WSO equips them with not only the grades they need but also the resilience, skills, and confidence to thrive.
As the school looks ahead, WSO’s record-breaking results set a powerful precedent – and reinforce its position as one of the UAE’s leading schools for both academic and personal achievement.
