Beacon of Excellence
Our vision for Performing Arts at WSO, is to have an Academy recognised as a beacon of excellence internationally, where everyone can take part and where talent is identified and nurtured through access to world-class teachers, facilities and opportunities.
All students from FS2 to Post 16 are exposed to Performing Arts lessons each week with a team of specialised Performing Arts teachers, led by our Director of Performing Arts.
Our students have the opportunity and platform to showcase their unique talents and we have enjoyed many outstanding performances; Fame, West Side Story, Twelfth Night, Little Shop of Horrors, Matilda, Bugsy Malone, Hairspray, Shrek the Musical, Seussical, The Sound of Music, The Jungle Book, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Oliver, Annie Jr and a production of Aristocats planned for FS2-Y2.
In addition to Performing Arts curriculum lessons, annual auditions take place to identify talented students for our ‘WSO Performing Arts Academy’. This enables students to be selected at an early age to further develop their talent within Music, Dance or Drama.
Additional provision is given to these students within the school day, which includes scholarship programmes in LAMDA and UDO qualifications. We also offer an all-inclusive LAMDA and UDO development programme for students from FS2-KS4. Each of our elite Performing Arts teams enter competitions within the UAE and internationally throughout the school year.
Further enhancing our rich curriculum, WSO is proud to be the flagship school for ‘UDO Dance Academy’ in Dubai and a partner school with ‘Arts Education’ in the Middle East.
UDO Academy Dubai
UDO Academy Dubai, is the education and training arm of the UDO Street Dance brand. The partnership provides an exclusive dance provision for our students which is built into the Academy’s Performing Arts curriculum, WSO Adrenaline Youth Dance Company and our after school provision. UDO offers a range of Dance pathways to students from FS2 – Year 11; from ‘UDO Street Tots’ for FS2 students to ‘UDO Choreography Classes’ up to Year 11.
Our students also have exclusive access to the prestigious ‘UDO Syllabus Street Dance’ qualification, which is a fully recognised teaching qualification in Street Dance.
